I could really use some advice if anyone cares to give it...

So I have a bit of a crush on my best friend (she knows), but she and I aren't as close as we used to be. I just want to be close again, but I don't know how that's possible without dating her. The problem is, she doesn't feel the same, and I don't want to pressure her. I also don't want to make things awkward, but I feel like a friendship of several years is at stake, and I don't want to lose it...

Ease into it. Don’t go straight out with her. Just work on becoming closer friends, then ease into asking her, if you feel you still want to (not sure if it’ll work, but that’s my advice).

Would anyone be interested in a short story I'm planning on writing? It's gonna be a rewrite of something from 3-4 years ago about a dog who gets abandoned by her owners. I'd also appreciate advice on where/how to get exposure and/or feedback once I do write it.
